Mill Room

The Mill Room features photographs, artifacts, and the history of the major mills in operation around Cowichan Lake. Learn about the major industrial powerhouses that helped settle and develop the region in addition to being part of the economic backbone of Vancouver Island’s development from the early 1900s to the present. Displays include the largest mill in Western Canada, Industrial Timber Mills located in Youbou, to a variety of establishments such as the Hillcrest Lumber Company in Sahtlam and Western Forest Industries in Honeymoon Bay.
